Eligibility for MBBS in India

  • Qualified NEET-UG in the same admission year, with Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) in 10+2.
  • Minimum qualifying percentile: 50th percentile for General category, 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC, 45th percentile for General-PwD (as per the current NTA notification — confirm the exact cutoff for the applicable year on neet.nta.nic.in).
  • Minimum age: 17 years as of admission; upper age limit and other eligibility details are notified by NMC/state counselling authorities each year.

Admission Process

  • All India Quota (15%) of Government college seats, plus 100% seats in Central/Deemed universities, are filled by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) under DGHS.
  • State Quota (85%) of Government seats, plus Private college seats, are filled through your respective state counselling authority (e.g. DMER, state CET cell).
  • Counselling runs in multiple rounds (Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up/Stray Vacancy) — seat allotment is based on NEET rank, category, and choices filled.
